Blocked Drains Gateshead

Gateshead Plumbing Co takes on blocked drains Gateshead-wide with a high-pressure jetter or an electric eel, then runs the CCTV camera down the line so the clear is proven, not promised. The figure is named before work begins. Ring, describe the fault, and the visit is booked.

Sewers, stormwater, yard lines and boundary traps are all Gateshead Plumbing Co work, cleared, checked and priced up front.

Is It the Drain or the Fixture?

A slow basin on its own points to that basin's trap. A blocked main line shows up in several rooms:

  • The shower base filling while the washing machine empties
  • The toilet bubbling or losing level when another fixture drains
  • The yard gully filling or overflowing at the lowest point of the block
  • A sewer smell through the floor wastes that comes and goes with the weather

The pattern matters. Fixtures failing together point to the shared line, and that is the job the jetter and camera are built for.

Clay, Grease and the Highway Strip

Drains of a single vintage

The Housing Commission sewered all of Gateshead West in the mid-1960s, which left the whole estate with earthenware house lines of the same age. When one junction starts taking roots, the joints either side of it are just as old and just as exposed.

Storm load off the corridor

Area rainfall averages 1,148mm a year, and summer storms drop it fast. Runoff from the Charlestown Bypass earthworks and the Pacific Highway shopfronts pours into stormwater pipes laid long before either carried that much hard surface.

Grease from the highway strip

Kitchen waste from the highway takeaways and the private hospital precinct ends up in the same sewers the houses drain into, so a blockage here can be restaurant grease as well as household scraps.

Tree Root Removal

Root mats cut out of clay joints, with the gaps they came through marked on film for sealing later. Get the roots out

What Shapes a Drain Job's Figure?

A drain quote starts with what the blockage is and how deep in the property it sits:

  • Depth into the property A plug near the kitchen outlet is a quick reach, and a fault out by the back fence needs the full length of cable or hose
  • Earthenware or PVC Each takes different cutting heads and different repair fittings
  • Openings to work from An exposed inspection point in the garden is faster than a line buried under a slab
  • After-hours visits A different rate applies, and it is quoted on the phone

We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.

Where the Drain Job Ends

When we're not the right call: Hunter Water looks after the public sewer main, so a break in it is theirs to repair. Our footage marks where your pipe joins the main, and you contact them with that recording in hand.

Drain Calls, Answered

Do you clear drains with chemicals?

No. Jetting and the eel shift grease, fat and roots mechanically, with nothing poured down the line. The camera run then puts the result on film, so the clear is evidence, not a promise.

Several fixtures are backing up at once. Is that urgent?

Yes. If water rises in the shower as the toilet flushes and the laundry drains, the blockage sits in the pipe they share, and sewage can spill from the lowest gully on the property. Stop using water and ring us straight away, day or night.

Will the tree roots just grow back?

Clearing takes the roots out of the pipe but leaves the tree standing. Trees here have had decades to work into the clay joints, so when the footage shows roots coming back, relining seals the pipe from inside and closes the gaps.

Is the camera check extra on a drain clear in Gateshead?

No. Filming before and after the clear comes with the job and sits inside the figure you approve. If the footage turns up something that changes the work, we stop and agree it with you first.
